Parent Info. – Booster Club

August 10, 2011

Dear Porter Football Families,

Welcome back to our returning families and hello to our new families!  We are off to a busy start with practices and fundraising.  When these first ten days are over, we look forward to enjoying some fun activities with you, but most importantly, supporting our great LTHS football teams!

It is our hope that all families join the Booster Club, membership is only $10.  The high school athletic budget alone cannot pay for the coaching staff.  Coach McKillip relies heavily on the Booster Club to provide funds (through membership and fundraising) to pay for the coaches and assist with other team needs.  If you cannot join the Booster Club at this time, we ask that you still fill out and return the membership form.  This way you will stay informed of what is going on within the LTHS football program.  Another great way to stay informed is to visit our website www.lockportfootball.com.

On the Booster Club membership form is a volunteer sheet for numerous activities.  Please consider signing up to work one game.  We have a program with over 200 young men, so parent volunteers should only need to work once.  If you have a freshman player, you could come out on a Friday and work either the 5pm sophomore game or the 7:30pm varsity game.  Sophomore parents could work a varsity game and varsity parents could work a sophomore game.  Varsity parents are always needed to cook and serve at the Varsity pasta dinners held on Thursday nights before each home game.  While we don’t have specific times yet for the pasta dinners, in the past, cooking took place around 3pm and dinner was served around 5pm.

Our Gold Card fundraiser kicks off on August 11th.  Please see the attached sheet for more information.

The Booster Club will be hosting a welcome gathering for all players and families on Saturday, August 13th, at 12noon.  Please see the attached sheet for more information.

Maroon & White Night is Friday, August 19th.  We are asking all families to donate an item listed on the attached sheet.

The Booster Club is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, September 18th, from 8a–11a at the American Legion in Lockport.  Please see the attached sheet for more information.

On Sunday, October 9th, the Booster Club will be hosting their annual Fashion Show.  Invitations will be going out within the next few weeks.  Please invite your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc.  This is a really fun event and a great way to meet with others outside of the football field!

The Booster Club concession stand is located at the south end of the stadium during all regular and playoff games.  The spirit wear tent is just inside the gate entrance.  Please support our food and apparel tents!
Reminder:  The concessions up front are sponsored by the Band Boosters, so please remember to come to the south end of the stadium and support the football boosters.

The Booster Club holds its monthly meetings on the first Monday of the month (unless it falls on a school holiday) in the East cafeteria at 7pm.  All are welcome to attend!  Please check our website for the latest news.  If you have any questions, please contact any one of our board members.  You can find their contact information on our website.

Gold Card Fundraiser

To:       Lockport football players/parents

From:  Don McKillip - Head Varsity Football Coach &

            Lockport Football Boosters

Re:       Lockport Football Gold Card Fundraiser

The Lockport football program has again this year put together a Gold Card fundraiser to help defer some of the costs associated with running our football program.  There are many needs for the program that the athletic budget does not cover.   The Gold Cards feature discounts from businesses in the Lockport/Homer Glen areas that are good through August 31, 2012.  We have worked hard this year to make the cards a terrific value for the customers that purchase.  We have added more businesses, extra key tags, and we are offering a national on-line discount program.  The cards are a tremendous value for the reduced price of $15.00.

This is a mandatory fundraiser for all participants that want to play in the Lockport football program this year.  We are expecting the players to sell the 15 cards!

Please read the following fundraiser guidelines closely so everyone fully understands what is expected of each player:

1)      The fundraiser starts on August 11 – players will be given 15 Gold Cards.

2)      Players are expected to sell 15 cards, but are encouraged to sell more to obtain cash prizes.

3)      Players will be expected to turn in money (one check) for the cards they have sold on checkpoint days of Monday, August 15 and Thursday, August 18.  All checks should be made out to “Lockport Football Boosters”.

4)      Players will be expected to have the money turned in for their 15 cards sold no later than Saturday, August 20.  This is the last day of the fundraiser.

5)      Players that sell 15 cards by August 20 will be dismissed after practice on that day.  Players that have not sold the minimum 15 cards must participate in the Blitz Day selling activities from 11am to 2pm that day.

Thank you for your continued support of the Lockport football program!

Please write one check (payable to “Lockport Football Boosters”) and place in an envelope with the player’s name and squad (Fr/Soph/V) written on the front of the envelope.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO SELL ON BLITZ DAY IF YOU SELL YOUR 15 CARDS  PRIOR TO BLITZ DAY – PLEASE NOTE:  YOU CAN EARN FREE PRIZES BY MEETING CHECKPOINT DATES

Booster Membership Form

The booster membership form is now available on-line.  We strongly encourage you to become a member of the football boosters.  The high school athletic budget alone cannot pay for the coaching staff.  Coach McKillip relies heavily on the Booster Club to provide funds (through membership and fundraising) to pay for the coaches and assist with other team needs.   Active membership is also a great way to provide for our student athletes, obtain information, as well as opportunities to meet other families and become a part of our special football program.

Simply print it out, complete and either mail it to:  P.O. Box 54, Lockport, IL  60441; or you can drop it off at our next booster meeting, which is held on the 1st Monday of each month, drop it off at the spirit wear table at the home football games, or turn it in to one of the board members.
